Chapter 1_ Introduction

In a world where we all seem to be running the same endless marathon, I sometimes feel like stepping to one side, taking a few deep breaths and, for at least a moment, not worrying about how many other runners are getting ahead of me.

That is probably why I enjoy noticing the small details around me. They give me an excuse to stop, look, take photographs, write, breathe, and, of course, quietly swear at everyone overtaking me while I am standing there. I call all of this: personal distractions from life. This sentence sounded bloody good. Let me say it properly:

I call all of this: personal distractions from life.

The truth is, I never know where I am going to stop or what I might find. I could make it sound philosophical and say that these subjects find me, rather than the other way round!!! But that sort of thing is best left to Instagram philosopher-bloggers(!), and so far, I am neither a philosopher nor a blogger.

(I even tried to find a photo of myself looking Philosophical
to put here, but apparently, no such photo exists.
So this space will remain empty until I manage to take one.)

The mathematical part of my brain prefers to explain it all through the simple logic of probability. That is why I call them random things. They appear entirely by chance, with no particular order or pattern between them—or at least, none that I have managed to find.

What you will see on this website is a collection of random things that have added something to my experience of being alive. And now, I would quite like to sell them :)
