Chapter 5_ About Me
I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but writing about myself has always been the hardest part. I do not know where to begin this long story, which started in 1992 in the city of Qom, Iran, and I do not know which parts of it I should tell you and which parts I should leave out.
I would like to write that anyone born in Iran is almost naturally drawn to either history or literature, and that I chose the second one. I would like to write that I have always loved mathematics just as much as literature. I would like to write that I still do not know whether I want to become a university professor in finance or a successful author. I would like to write that I still do not know whether moving to the UK in 2023 was the right decision, although I am very happy living in Manchester. I would like to write that I support Arsenal, and that whenever I see Thierry Henry, who seems to be in every advert these days, I still think of the football arguments we used to have at school. I would like to write that one day, I will finally return to Iran, and that I do not know which of the people I love will still be alive when that day comes, or which of them I will never see again. I would like to write that the reason I want to become a father is the kind wife I have. I would like to write that I do not know how I would have survived the loneliness of migration without her. And I would like to write that I am glad you read all of this, all these untidy thoughts I did not know how to begin, only a small part of what I wanted to tell you about myself, left here for you exactly as they came, without any editing.
